SUMMER HOMEWORK

First Week of Summer (June 6-12)

THE LAST SONG

external image 9781600246401_154X233.jpg

During my first week of summer I decided to finish reading a book I had stopped reading during semesters, The Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks. I had stopped reading the book because I really needed to study and go to math tutorings. So, I decided to continue reading the book during my first week of summer. It took me about 3 days to re-read and finish it. I loved the book so much because it involved a lot of romance between the two main characters, Ronnie and Will. They got deeply in love in summertime and decided they wanted to be together forever, but that was impossible since Ronnie did not live there and Will was going to college when summer ended. At the same time, Ronnie begins to have some problems since she finds out her dad, the human being she had not spoken with for the last three years, was sick and that was going to die because he was a victim of cancer. She stopped hearing from Will when summer was over and thought that their relationship was over. So she continued with her life and began to assist at a college in New York. Ronnie received a surprise meanwhile she studied at Julliard; Will came to be with her forever, he transferred to Columbia University, which is also in New York. The novel does not say how did Ronnie's and Will's life ended, but I may conclude they ended up together forever. I really liked this book so much, it made me cry.

Second Week of Summer (June 8-14)

MOVIE MARATHON WEEK

My second week of summer was different than my first week. Instead of reading a book, I had a movie marathon with my friends. We watched A LOT of movies. My friends came over to my house to watch them or we went to somebody else's house to watch them. We watched a lot of different types of movies, from animated pictures to action, violence and romance. The animated movies we watched were "Peter Pan" and "Lion King". We also watched action films like "Miami Vice", "Wanted" and scary films like "Sorority Row". We had an awesome time watching these movies because we love movies so much. It was also fun because we were like screaming a lot in the scary movies or doing "awww" noises in the romantic movies. All of the movies we watched were in English because it is extremely awful to watch a movie en spanish, since the translation is totally wrong and weird.

Third Week of Summer (June 15-21)

TOY STORY 3D
ToyStory3D.jpg
During my third week of summer I went to see the premiere of "Toy Story 3-D" with my little brother, my mom and my sister. We saw the movie in english, even though my little brother barely understood. I really liked seeing "Toy Story 3-D" because it reminded me of my childhood when I used to watch the movies and play the nintendo 64 game of Toy Story. The movie was about how Andy, the owner of all the toys, was growing-up and very soon he was going to leave his home to attend college and needed to give-out all his toys because now he was a young man. Woody, Buzz, Slinky, Jessy, Barbie and many more were given out to a Day Care were the other toys tortured Andy's toys. Using the help of Woody and Buzz, all of them are able to escape the suffering of the Day Care and they return to Andy's home, where he decided to give them to a girl who he knows she will take care of them. Not only did I watch the movie, but I've been playing ToyStory3-D Wii Video-game with my little brother. The game is in english and it is sort of a movie because I am supposed to follow the same sequence of the movie to pass the different levels.

Fourth Week of Summer (June 22-28)

WORLD CUP SOCCER GAME

DAVID_VILLA.jpg Fox+Sports+EN+VIVO.jpg
This week has been very exciting since the first phase of the 2010 World Cup has ended and we now know what teams will be facing the round of 16. During this week the team I cheer for, Spain, played their game against Portugal. I saw this game via television, but not in the spanish narrating channels. Fox Sports in English was the channel where I watched this game. It was extremely wierd to listen to a game being narrated in the english language. I am normally accustom to listen spanish narrations for soccer games, since I only watch the Honduran, Spanish and Italian league. The narrations where totally different and I got pretty confused in some words because insetad of listening to "Tiro de Esquina", I heard the words "Corner Kick". The Sport Anchors commented about the game in english but it was easy to understand what they meant but wierd since I am not used to. I was very, extremely happy that Spain beat Portugal because the player I like the most, David Villa, scored the goal. I am now considerating on watching the some leages in Fox Sports in English to listen to the different soccer words.

Fifth Week of Summer (June 30-July 6)

FRIENDS OVER TO MY HOUSE

Wii_2.jpgWii.jpg
During this week, my friends came over to my house like almost every day. We watched movies like we usually do. "Strangers" was one of the movies we watched because Bandes and Natalia had not watched. We were totally frightened and screaming and Pupi and Kenneth were totally chill watching the movie. After the movie, my friends saw my Nintendo Wii and told me they had not played it in a long time, so we decided to play. We played "Mario Kart" and then a game called "Just Dance", which was the best game. That game consisted on dancing and singing english songs. It was totally funny watching the boys dance and sing music from the 80's. We really had an awesome time dancing and singing. It was easy for us to sing those old songs because we had the lyrics at the bottom of the television. As you may see above, we had an awesome time!

Sixth Week of Summer (July 7-13)

ACCIDENT IN WASHINGTON DC

ALLSTARS.JPG
Accidents always happen, especially if you have a three year old brother. Well, this week I flew to Washington D.C. with my family. As usual as in every summer, I was having a lot of fun with with my family. We had never had an accident in any of our trips, until this summer. We were at a department store with my family in a mall and my little brother was in the need of going to the bathroom. Since I was making company to my dad, my mom and my sister took him to the restroom, which was located in the third floor. A while later, my dad and I heard some screaming and crying of a toddler and then we recognized it was my brother. We went running to see what had occurred and we saw that my brother had his foot stuck in the electric stairways. My mother is my hero because she saved him from loosing his little foot by leaning on those rough edges of the stairs and pulling him to get out his foot. Fortunately, my brother did not loose his foot and his All-Stars were the ones who got damaged, as you may see in the picture above, but unfortunately my mom was bleeding a lot from her both legs since she was wearing a dress. Absolutely nobody from the department stored help my mom nor my little brother, so I got very mad and went to the Legal Offices to put the complain. The managers were Americans and did not speak ANY spanish, so I had to explain to them the story in English by myself because my dad was downstairs helping my mom and my siblings. After explaining them, they were very ashamed of what had happen in their store and went to talk with my parents. They also congratulated me because I had an excellent english accent, since they thought I would not have because I lived in Central America. This was the WORSE accident that has ever happen to us in our family trips, but fortunately both of them or doing fine except for the awful memory my brother has about this.

Seventh Week of Summer (July 14-21)

ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY

459.JPGbday.JPG457.JPG

After the accident my little brother had last week, everything was awesome! Since my sister and I spent most of our summers in Washington D.C and it was the first time my little brother went there, we made a lot of touristing so he could know the place. During this week, it was my 15th birthday and the 4th birthday of my brother. For my birthday, I went to have dinner with my family at a very delicious restaurant and they gave me the best gifts ever. Then, for my brother's birthday (2 days after mine) we took him were he wanted and he spent a really nice time because he had animated characters sing Happy Birthday to him and he blew out the candles of the delicious cake. We also made a lot of shopping, visited the National Zoo and many museums and we went up the Washington Monument. I really like going to Washington D.C. because I feel like at home. Next week will be my last week here and I am really looking forward on continuing having a blast.

Eight Week of Summer (July 22-30)

WASHINGTON D.C

White_House.JPG818.JPG
This was my last week in this English speaking country. We continued visiting a lot of monuments, museums and The White House with my family. A lot of walking was done this week because since we were touristing we left our car parked at the street and began walking to the monuments and The White House. We got the opportunity to see President Obama land in his helicopter on the roof of The White House. It was amazing because first a lot of helicopters were rounding The White House, museums and monuments and the President Obama's helicopter apeared and landed. We took many pictures and continued doing fun activities. Thankfully this week we had no accidents, except that my grandfather had a terrible car accident and we were all very sad and nervous. I had to speak a lot of English because mostly all the people in Washington D.C speak only English. I barely saw people speaking Spanish, and if they did, they were latins. Also, there was a lot of French and Chinese speaking. I got very sad the day we were leaving because I just love this place so much and I wish I could live here and study at Georgetown University.
